Making the choice to adopt...

When it comes to Mike and I, we are two people who thoroughly enjoy the company of children of all ages. We get all googley eyed at the sights of babies and talk to every child we seem to pass in the stores. Some of you may know that Mike and I have been trying for awhile now to start our own family. We have had some bumps in the road but we have tried to hold our heads high and continue to pray through it all. We have faced two failed pregnancys, IUI treatments, and even started the adoption process outside of an agency with a pregnant woman who later asked us to pay her money for her child outside of the money needed to care for her and the baby through the pregnancy. With all of that we have learned more and more how precious the gift of a child truly is and are thankful daily for the insight that God has given us through this process.

With all that said, adoption has been something that Mike and I have wanted to do most of our lives. I remember us having conversations about adoption before we were even dating. It was something we were both very serious and passionate about. Before we ever knew we would be faced with difficulties of keeping our own pregnancy we knew we were both called to adopt a child. We just recently experienced our second miscarriage and following that prayed long and hard about what our next step should be. After much prayer, lost sleep and many discussions we decided this was the perfect time to start an adoption.

We are so excited to start this journey through an amazing agency who helps to support and back Christian families raising adopted children and feel so blessed in the presence of these heartfelt people. This agency deals with pregnant woman who are wanting to adopt their child/ren out to a loving Christian home, which means that we will be adopting a newborn baby. The first step of the adoption process was to send in a pre-approval application, which Mike and I have done. We recieved notice soon after that we were pre-approved and have now begun the second step in the process, the APPLICATION and HOME STUDY. This application is no joke, it asks any and all personal questions, breaks down each persons childhood, work history, money situations, and morals and beliefs. It is more than 60 pages long and requires doctors approval of a healthy status from both Mike and I and referrals from 7 different family and friends including a pastor. We have completed all the paperwork and are set to see doctors in the next couple of weeks. We are working on getting copies of all the documents needed ie.. marriage license and birth certificates. And in two weeks we should have saved enough money to pay for the application fee, the start of a home study, background check and creating a parent profile for potential birth mothers to view us. We are on our way and doing all we can to have a baby in our arms.

Thank you so much for following our journey. We ask that you please pray for our situation as you watch our adoption story unfold. GOD BLESS

Love,

Kasey and Mike Allen
